Joelton Elementary School started in a one-room building located on Eatons Creek Road. In 1918, the school was first grade through tenth grade. In 1922, Joelton opened a four-year high school, which is now Joelton Middle School. In 1932, an elementary school was built across the street from Joelton Middle School. In 1955, a cafeteria and auditorium were added. A primary addition with four classrooms was built in 1965. A new elementary facility was built in 1989 which shares the same campus as Joelton Middle School. The facilities include 22 classrooms, a gymnasium, cafetorium, media center, science lab, art room, and music room. An atrium and courtyard add to the uniqueness of this facility. There are also rooms designated for guidance, reading specialist, bookroom, technology lab and rooms for itinerant specialists. The most recent addition was a new playgroud meeting ADA standards which was added in the fall of 2007. |
